Fruitport’s Pollock twins are finally headed to the state finals together, in their final year of cross country.
The seniors earned their ticket to the Division 2 MHSAA finals, slated for this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, with strong performances last Friday at regionals.
Vincent Pollock finished in eighth place in the boys race with a time of 15:55.
Valerie Pollock finished in 15th place in the girls race with a time of 19:31.
Valerie qualified for state three years ago as a freshman, Vincent qualified as a sophomore and junior, but they had never qualified for the elite competition in the same year.
In the team competition at regionals, the Fruitport girls finished seventh out of 14 teams with 179 points.
Pehyton Beardsley finished 26th with a time of 19:58, followed by Zoe German (37th, 20:48), Brynley Merkins (48th, 21:23) and Treasure Fleese (53rd, 21:47).
The Fruitport boys struggled, finishing 13th out of 13 teams.
Landon Johnson finished in 50th place with a time of 17:35, followed by Dylan Winskas (75th, 18:22), Enzo Aggoune (87th, 20:56) and Josh Versalle (91st, 21:46). [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
